The purpose of this group is to:

• advise UNAIDS, the World Health Organisation and other international organisations on the most appropriate methods and assumptions for their global estimates;

• advise researchers and public health officials on the different issues involved in estimation of the present and future prevalence and impact of HIV/AIDS;

• streamline the communication of data and understanding of the epidemiology of HIV between researchers, public health officials and other interested parties;

• publish papers, reports and reviews on HIV epidemiology.

 This Reference Group is coordinated by staff of the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology in the Faculty of Medicine of Imperial College London
